Land Surveying: Legal Principles for Boundary Determination (Course No. CI 102)

 

This course is designed to give the individual an introduction to basic legal principles in boundary and land rights location and/or determination. The topics to be presented include but are not limited to the historical development of property surveying, priority of evidence, metes and bounds and other types of deed descriptions, riparian rights, littoral rights, rights of way, adverse possession, conveyances, covenants, description ambiguity, easements, unwritten rights, preservation of evidence, State of Connecticut surveying and mapping statutes, common law, etc. This course is designed for but is not limited to those in the land surveying or associated professions. It is intended to be a practical and useful guide to assisting individuals in understanding the basic legal principles employed in locating, determining or conveying real property or real property rights.

Land Surveying: Title Search / Boundary Descriptions (Course No. CI 101)

 

This course is designed to give the individual an introduction to basic methods used in land surveying with relation to title search and documentation location and retrieval. The course will be beneficial to all who may have an interest in title and document search in relation to land rights and boundary location. The course will include but not be limited to such topics as forming chains of title with respect to information gathered from tax assessor’s offices, town halls, the State Library, utility companies, etc. The course will discuss the proper way to use Grantor – Grantee indices, map indices, etc. The course will discuss the basics of document interpretation in respect to land rights and boundary location. This course is designed to be practical and will give the individual skills that can be readily applied. The course should prove helpful to those employed in land surveying, foresters, real estate agents, teachers, contractors, paralegals, conservation board members, homeowners, and anyone with an interest in understanding basic title search in regard to land rights and boundary location.  Land Surveying: Practical Fundamentals (Course No. CI 100)

 

This course is designed to give the individual an introduction to basic methods used in land surveying with regard to basic survey mathematical computations and mapping.    The course will cover such topics as bearing and bearing systems, angles, coordinate systems, traverse, horizontal and vertical controls, topography, simple curves, coordinate geometry, field locations, map reading, etc. This course is designed for but is not limited to those in the land surveying or associated professions.  This course is designed to be practical and will give the individual skills that can be readily applied.

 Scientific calculator required.
